EYEHATEGOD at Camden Underworld 26th June 2011

All words and photos by Antony Roberts unless specified

The British weather really knows when to throw itself at you.  A few weeks ago when I wanted sun I was stood in a field at Download festival being rained on for 12 hours non stop.  Now I was heading across the whole of London with a backpack full of heavy camera gear and it decided to be hot.  Not just any kind of hot, this must have been the hottest day of the year so far.

So a few months ago my friend Matt turned around and said he was helping put on a mini festival with Josh who works at Fighting Cocks.  Sounds good I thought but little did I realise what an amazing lineup they would end up putting together.  There's a serious amount of talent in the UK that is often overlooked and they wanted to put something together that showcased this.

Alice is playing a very intimate gig at London's 100 club next week...

I discovered Omotai a few months back after buying a Black Breath album and the site "recommending" that I check out Omotai.  I was not disappointed and decided to get in touch to find out more.  Hit up the player to check them out and have a read to see what they're all about, they're supporting Yob and Dark Castle in the US soon...

Godflesh, Goatsnake and D.R.I. at HMV Forum

Godflesh www.metalgigs.co.uk

What an odd but AWESOME line up I thought when this got announced.  Thrash, doom and the godfathers of industrial metal all in one mashed up line up, but the more you think about it the more it makes sense.  All three bands are generally liked by fans of "real" music of the heavy variety, and it would be nice to see more varied line ups like this happen...
