I have no idea what they have been putting in the Merseyside water recently but whatever it is can they please share it around? Many years ago Liverpool spawned Carcass, one of my all time favourite bands, so any decent band to come from the area already had fine company. In the last few years we’ve had Dragged Into Sunlight and Conan come along and redefine heavy whilst destroying ear canals in very different ways. Last year saw Black Magician blow everyone away with their throwback riffed up doom debut “Nature is the Devil’s Church”. Now there is not one but TWO new bands from Merseyside already being banded about on the tongues of the underground ready to try and take the Liverpool crown in the form of Crypt Lurker and Coltsblood.
Coltsblood released the “Beyond the lake of madness” demo tape but if you haven’t already got it you’re out of luck as it’s already sold out. The good news is it’s being remastered and released on vinyl through Ulthar Records shortly. Crypt Lurker have a cassette EP coming out shortly which you can check out on bandcamp and both bands are working on a joint split which is due out in time for the tour. Tour i say? Yes indeed, you lucky people of the UK are being graced with a joint headline tour this November. The bands play the following dates:

21st November – The Bay Horse, Manchester – also with Wort
22nd November – Stuck On A Name, Nottingham – with TBC
23rd November – St. John the Baptist’s Crypt, Bristol – with Lord Misery
24th November – The Black Heart, London – with TBC
Crypt Lurker will also be supporting Esoteric in Birmingham the week before the tour on 9th November with Consecration – see here.
