Mgla (Polish for Fog) started way back in 2000 based in Krakow, the second largest of Poland’s major cities and one of it’s oldest dating back to the 7th Century.  Formed by M. he is currently joined by a drummer going simply by the name Darkside, and for live dates session musicians filling in on bass and guitar duties.

Up until 2012 it had been around 10 years since the band had played any live dates but following on from the release of “With Hearts Toward None” (2012 on Northern Heritage Records, who have put out releases from the likes of Deathspell Omega, Ildjarn, Clandestine Blaze etc.) they have been playing around once a month, though this date in London will be there first live UK date ever.

Promotional activity for the band has in their words been “from minimal to none and was mostly based on word of mouth”.  Their lack of live shows, promotion and indeed interviews has been in itself the best form of promotion the band could ask for; quietly growing a steadily building fan base with releases talked about throughout the underground on forums which has seen an organic growth of genuine fans and a somewhat cult status.  Enough about them anyway, they have stated themselves that “We prefer to do our thing, rather than talk about it…we believe as an art form, music should not require additional written explanation”, so check out a track from their latest release below. Find them on facebook here.

Next up on the bill, also making their UK live debut is the Icelandic black metal band Svartidaudi (Black Death in Icelandic).  Formed in 2002 and based between both Reykjavik and Kopavogur it took a few demos and 10 years before they finally released their debut album.  That album was “Flesh Cathedral” released in 2012, but oh how it was worth the wait, even claiming the album of the year in our very own Gary Lukes Top 60 albums of 2012.  The first notes of the masterpiece started being written back in 2008, but as the band put it themselves in their interview with currentzz “Only a fool rushes into a battlefield without a strategic plan or proper weapons, and while most bands prefer to release every single uninspired chord they can, we’ve chosen to remain in the shadows unseen until we’ve felt we had something worth offering. We will never settle for mere mediocrity”.

Having already slayed at the likes of South Of Heaven and Prague Death Mass prepare yourself for their UK live ritual with the stream of their debut and a track from their forthcoming release on Terratur Possessions below. Find them on facebook here.

Next up on the line up is a band anyone with an ear even slightly close to the UK underground death metal scene should be familiar with, Grave Miasma.  Formed in London in 2002 as Goat Molestor, they changed the name to Grave Miasma in 2006 and have since released 2 EPs and last year their debut “Odori Sepulcrorum” on Sepulchral Voice/Profound Lore making many end of year lists.  Having seen their “pure occult death metal” live many a time I can assure you they slay live. Find them on facebook here.

Last but by no means least on the line up is Norway’s One Tail, One Head.  Whilst this is not their UK debut (they played Caledonian Darkness in Glasgow in February) this will be their debut gig in England.  Formed in 2006 in Trondheim, Norway, they are yet to release an album but 2 demos and 2 EPs have seen them grow with legendary live shows full of blood and fire hailing the spirit of the original black metal bands, including decimating the audience at last year’s Prague Death Mass. Find them on facebook here.
