About

Hailing from Birmingham and forming in 1995 the original P.O.A line up consisted of Mart (guitar) Pix (drums) and Jon (bass) with second guitar duties going to Craig aka 'Wig' younger brother of Mart in '96.

Our original sound was much more in a street punk vein which slowly evolved to the much more heavier sound you'll hear on our 'The Fear Of War' album.

We didn't actually start gigging until '97 but soon started to forge a decent reputation on the Brum Punk/HC scene and around the Midlands circuit for our energetic, spikey blasts of punk in a scene which included the likes of the mighty POLICE BASTARD, FREEBASE and ASSERT.

During '97 we recorded our 1st demo that we could actually get out to people now we were gigging. It was an important stepping stone for us as our sound progressed.

After a gig in sunny Leamington Spa later that year with Police Bastard we were asked by the band to support them on their upcoming tour of Germany in November.

Going into '98 and we headed back into the studio (JIGSAW STUDIOS) to record our debut EP 'Let Em Burn' which was released through the ill fated label Problem Child Records.

Gigs throughout the year came fast and furious with the highlight supporting a freshly reformed Subhumans at the Foundry in Brum.

Late '98 saw the departure of Wig and in came current second guitarist Rez.

Early '99 we re-entered the studio to record our debut album 'The Fear Of War'. Due to changing tastes and influences of other bands we liked and played with from that era our sound had developed into a furious and spiteful mix of brutishly raw Punk, Metal and Hardcore.
After a change of heart as to who would release our album it was then picked up by Ian Glasper (STAMPIN' GROUND) and released through his Blackfish Records label and released in the September of 1999. The album received some good reviews from music mags including a 4/5 Ks in Kerrang and a 8/10 in Metal Hammer.

Sadly (and stupidly) we split soon after for a variety of reasons just as things seemed to be taking off nicely for us.

Following the demise of P.O.A, Mart went on to front H8 Target with Pix on drums.

Rez did and still does produce electronic music under the guise of Zero-One.

Jon is presumed M.I.A from the musical landscape...if found please return.

Which leads us to Part Two.....

With Mart now relocated in Bristol it seemed P.O.A. getting back together would never happen despite all parties showing interest. Then, Pix rolls up in 'Brizzle' too and the two intend to start jamming on a new project.

Summer 2011 and Ian Glasper gets in touch regarding an interview with the band for his new book on '90s punk. Mart, Pix and Rez decide it's unfinished business and with Rez willing to commute the reunion is almost complete.

Sadly however, despite being keen on the idea, Perv decided he could not commit and reluctantly called it a day. We wasted no time in finding a replacement in the form of 'Skid', Mart's cousin.

In September '12 we recorded our yet to be released split EP (with EPHEMERAL FOETUS).

Soon after co-founding member Pix-E decided to call it a day which left us with the unenviable task of looking for a new drummer.

After much searching in January '13 we finally found Phil who now occupies our drum stool!

Material for a new album is currently being written.
