Live Evil festival have announced the first bands to appear at this year’s edition of the festival.  The festival will take place at The Dome in Tufnell Park, London on the 18th-19th October 2014 with a preshow on the 17th headlined by Ranger with 2 more bands to be announced.  The first acts announced for this year’s edition are Manilla Road, Antichrist and Quartz.

Manilla Road formed waaaay back in 1977 with a brief hiatus between 1992 and 1994 and have put out a staggering 16 studio and 2 live albums.  Formed in Wichita, Kansas by guitarist Mark ‘The Sharl’ Shelton they are currently putting the finishing touches to their 17th studio album which is due out later in 2014. They have their own youtube channel featuring over 80 videos with high quality audio videos from their entire back catalogue which you can find here.

Also announced today were Swedish Live Evil regulars Antichrist.  Formed in Vaxjo, Sweden in 2005 they released a string of crushing thrash demos, but it was their 2011 debut on High Roller Records “Forbidden World” that brought them out of the underground and into the disgusting filth ridden thrash limelight.  The album was followed up in 2013 with a single “Burned beyond Recognition” (see below), with a b-side cover of cult Croatian thrash band Evil Blood’s “Kill with Napalm”.

Also announced today were Quartz which to quote the Live Evil organisers facebook page “still incredible live despite having helped kick off this heavy metal genre in the late 70s”.  Originally formed in Birmingham in 1974 as Bandy Legs before changing the name to Quartz in 1977, their debut album was produced by Tony Iommi, and back then they toured with Sabbath, AC/DC, Maiden, Saxon, UFO and Rush.  They split up in 1983, briefly got back together in 1996, and reformed properly in 2011 with a show at the Asylum 2 in Birmingham.  They released three studio albums Quartz (1977), Stand Up And Fight (1980) and Against All Odds (1983).
