Desertfest 2013 will take place in Camden, London, between the 26th and 28th April 2013. With earlybird tickets going on sale this Friday we decided to have a very quick catch up with Desertscene Dan to get a few questions answered about next year’s festival.  After last years amazing festival with the likes of Church Of Misery, Corrosion Of Conformity, Black Pyramid, Orange Goblin, Karma to Burn and loads more we wanted to find out more…

So Desertfest tickets are about to go on sale, how much are early bird tickets and how much will normal tickets be?

We have a very limited special earlybird price on sale this friday at £60 and full price will be £80.

That’s pretty damn cheap for a 3 day festival!  Are you at the same venues as last year?

We will be using the same three venues as last year, The Underworld, The Purple Turtle and the Black Heart. We are hoping to expand the festival so watch this space.

How many bands are you hoping to have play over the weekend?

Well after last years mammoth 65 bands which some how managed to pretty much go without a hitch, except for Church of Misery being held up on a ferry and nearly missing their slot. This year will be less bands but bigger sets, but there will be plenty of choice for all the stoners.

Any names you can discuss as of yet?

We are keeping them closely guarded at the moment, but what i can say is we have already confirmed some mighty fine bands for 2013, some BIG surprises are a-foot at Desertfest HQ.

For those that didn’t attend last year what can they expect of Desertfest?

What we found last year was a totally cool vibe at all venues, a very international crowd coming from as far as Canada, Japan and the U.S.A. The heart of the Festival, (no pun intended) is the Black Heart. Being that its round the back streets of the Underworld it felt like you wasn’t even in the middle of Camden. The crowd was partying super hard, we had a girl dancing on stage naked for what seemed an eternity during Karma to Burn’s set. There was an awesome vibe throughout the fest, muscians mingling with the fans, Pezo (Truckfighters drummer) seemed to spend most of his weekend customizing peoples Truckfighters hats. People chilled outside, smoked what ever they fancied and chatted between bands sets.  Aftershow parties happening at the Black Heart and Purple Turtle catering for different musical tastes kept the fans partying till the early drunken hours. Personally i had such an amazing time meeting so many new faces from all over the globe, and appreciated seeing so many awesome bands in one place, over one weekend, as much as they did.

As for this year, we are hoping for more of the same, we are in talks constantly on ideas we could bring to 2013, but don’t want to mention too much right now. We are hoping to expand the festival so watch this space for announcements over the next few months.

Outside of Desertfest you are involved with Desertscene gigs – what do you have coming up?

We have a couple of things coming up. This month we have the mighty Colour Haze playing on Friday 28th September, it’s the only UK Show on their XXL Tour. No supports, guest musicians and a big light show, we are very psyched for this very special show. Also we have Swedish Fuzz Stoners Truckfighters on tour in December 5-8th December. We will be travelling to Bristol (The Croft) on the 5th, Leeds (The Cockpit) on the 6th, Oxford (The Bullingdon Arms) on the 7th and finishing in London (The Underworld) on the 8th.  And not forgetting we also have an aftershow party after the London show at the Black Heart.

We’re super excited about this one and knowing what the Desertscene guys are like you can guarantee some awesome additions to be named soon. Get your earlybird tickets for Desertfest 2013 this Friday here
