About

Without a doubt one of the most important bands ever to emerge in the death metal genre, INCANTATION returns with another blasphemous offering of doom/death heaviness. Long imitated but never equaled, INCANTATION have made a name for themselves as an uncompromising, bludgeoning metal force to be reckoned with. Over the years, the band has given us such classics as Onward to Golgotha and Diabolical Conquest. Now, with Decimate Christendom, the band continues to set a standard of quality for all others to meet.

Over their illustrious fifteen-year career, INCANTATION has become an infamous death metal institution and a pillar of the international underground metal scene. The staggering combination of the band's ominous sound, vicious style, incredible work ethic and unwavering dedication has left an indelible mark unmatched by all except the most legendary of their peers. Arguably metal's hardest working band, INCANTATION has ventured forth like conquering crusaders, converting thousands of new fans time after time. From Canada to Colombia, Argentina to Europe, Central America to Australia and the States, INCANTATION have endeavored to reach every corner of the world. Additionally, they have given such other prestigious acts as Nile, Decapitated, Krisiun, Enslaved, and Kataklsym their first opportunities to tour on U.S. soil.

Although the band has band seen its share of lineup changes, they've always managed to stay active and relevant. Furthermore, INCANTATION main man John McEntee's commitment to the scene is something to be respected, if not revered. With the return of drummer Kyle Severn in 2000, the band came full circle as they went into the studio to record Blasphemy in 2002. After the release of Blasphemy, with the departure of Mike Saez, John McEntee took over vocal duties and prepared for extensive touring. The "Blasphemy World Assault Tour" took the band all corners of the earth, including many first time appearances in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Italy, England and Scotland. In March of 2004, John McEntee (guitar/vocals), Kyle Severn (drums) and Joe Lombard (bass) returned to the legendary Mars Recording Compound to work with longtime producer Bill Korecky (Integrity, Earth Crisis). The result is yet another primal slab of sonic death that is sure to make heads spin.

Decimate Christendom picks up where Blasphemy left off, as well as harkening back to their doomier past. Dark harmonies burn through the oppressively heavy guitar attack to conjure up images of demons and acts of the unspeakable. Once again, they've pushed the limits of death metal and delivered that 'classic INCANTATION sound' – pure blazing aggression with total agonizing doom. Decimate Christendom has captured the band at their finest and most creative apex to date. While few artists leave an outstanding mark upon the music world, INCANTATION have built a legacy that will extend past their years. Their shadow has been cast forever over the genre, and we are eternally grateful.
