In the last 7 years Eastern Front have built a formidable reputation with numerous magazine features and festival slots in the UK and across Europe, (including a packed out set on the Sophie Lancaster stage at BOA ﾒ12). Their WWII influenced BM has been labelled ﾓWar Torn Black Metalﾔ and treads a winding path of Doom, Death, Folk and Classical all laced with a traditional Black Metal approach. Each song evokes the emotional experiences of battle, encompassing hope, pride, comradeship, misery, sorrow and victory. Their debut album ﾑBlood on Snowﾒ was released in 2010 to rave reviews and they are currently writing new material. The band have moved from a very raw black metal sound on early releases to their later work with acclaimed producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, Evile etc). Not afraid to step outside of the box and bring in influences and instruments from other genres, Primitive Graven Image have more recently been merging psychedelic and progressive influences into their sound, whilst retaining the intensity of their black and occasionally death metal influences. White & Fowler, the core duo behind ABSINTHROPY continue to impress me and I really cant wait to see them live again at Chaosfest!
