About

Since their inception in 2009, Manchester four piece Betraeus have gone from strength to strength developing their unique blend of atmospheric, progressive, death metal. Their fusion of chopping riffs and blasting rhythms with intense atmosphere creates an epic metal experience that is mature well beyond their years, making them one of the UK's most exciting progressive death metal bands.

In 2010 Betraeus made their festival debut at Bloodstock Open Air playing alongside the likes of Opeth, Children Of Bodom and Devin Townsend. They also played an intricate acoustic set on the Jagermeister stage, showcasing the complexity & diversity of their music. A year of UK touring & high profile shows followed and whilst getting their debut EP 'Towards The Sun' ready for release in 2011, Betraeus secured a slot at the legendary Download Festival playing the Pepsi Max Stage alongside the likes of Evile, Danzig & more.

Betraeus released their debut EP 'Towards The Sun' in November 2011 via Siege Of Amida Records to widespread fan and critical acclaim 'Crushingly heavy, technical, atmospheric & vocally melodic, this is not for the closed minded.' – Metal Hammer. The EP saw them tour all over the UK, release their debut video for 'Towards The Sun' which landed at number 3 on the Scuzz TV Charts and also has over 25,000 views online, they also played a near SOLD OUT hometown show with over 250 tickets sold at the Manchester Academy 3.

Setting them aside from the majority of UK metal acts, Betraeus also received praise from the mainstream newspaper The Guardian where they were featured as the band of the day and said, 'We're not overly familiar with prog death, but these Mancunian metallers impress with their capacity for complexity'

2012 saw Betraeus play a capacity hometown show with death metal titans Decapitated as well as a Molten Magazine sponsored Ireland tour with fellow Mancunian metallers Spires. They also did a short tour of the UK with Scar Symmetry, Xerath & Deals Death and are now concentrating on writing the highly anticipated debut album!
