About

Magrudergrind was formed in 2002. The District of Columbia-based band dropped their self-released first record as delinquent teenagers and have since put forth countless splits in addition to two full lengths. Owing much to the close-knit global DIY punk community, since its inception the band has toured Europe and North America multiple times, Puerto Rico, Japan, and South East Asia with the likes of Misery Index, Unholy Grave, Phobia, and Rotten Sound. In 2007, Magrudergrind released their first full length, Rehashed, on Six Weeks Records.

Two-thousand-and-nine saw Magrudergrind's sophomore full-length, self-titled record on Willowtip Records, engineered by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Misery Index, Torche) and mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Phobia). A sonic escalation of the band's previous amalgam of grindcore and DIY punk, Magrudergrind's acclaimed self-titled release sent them into 2010 with notable appearances at the Scion Rock Festival in Ohio on March 13, the Maryland Deathfest, Memorial Day weekend and Hellfest in Clisson, France in June.

Further into 2010, Magrudergrind released the "Crusher" EP on Scion Audio/Visual on November 16th. The release was the premiere metal release by the label. Crusher that was later reissued by high profile DIY labels To Live A Lie Records in the U.S. and a collaboration between Bones Brigade Records and RSR in the primarily European and outside-US territories. Magrudergrind toured with Relapse record doom heavyhitters Cough the South Eastern US which included shows at the eclectic SXSW Music Conference in Austin, TX. The remainder of the year took the trio to wide-scaled European metal festivals in Holland, Portugal and Czech; Neurotic Death Festival, SWR Festival and Obscene Extreme Festival.

In the summer of 2011, Magrudergrind played a handful of selected shows across Scandinavia and the Obscene Obscene Festival in Czech, this time returning to the festival as a near-headlining act. Later in the year, they toured the East Coast with fellow powerviolence/grindcore West Coast contemporaries on Relapse Records, Despise You before a exlcusive show at the No Idea Records curated pop-punk and punk-centric festival in Gainesville, The Fest.

In 2012, Magrudergrind toured across South and East European countries with Oakland, California's Exhumed and Finnish grind-stars Rotten Sound. HBO approached the band for a brief cameo on the show Veep featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The 5th episode in May featured the band.

Magrudergrind continues to write for their highly anticipated 3rd full-length record to be released on a label TBA.
