Here at The Rock Patch Merton Manor we believe in promoting young, up and coming talent. So we have Black State Highway a young band that grew from the great academy that is BIMM in Brighton. We all know Black State Highway for Olie Trethewey's ridiculously good guitar playing, both in Black State Highway and of course alongside the boys in Four Wheel Drive. Headed by Liva Steinberga, with her more than impressive vocals, demanding respect with both her superb tone, range and of course impeccable control. Jon Crampton battles it out with Olie also on guitar, both sharing lead duties and both holding their own against each other. The heartbeat of this band is driven by both Harry Bland and Gordon Duncan, Harry on drums and Gordon on Bass. If you like hard driven southern blues Rock, then trust us, you are gonna adore these guys!!! The support slot is headed up by another great band that has been also formed from the brilliant instution that is BIMM. Comanche are of the same vein, with hard driving guita riffs provided by a guy to seriously look out for Jack Woolley, Jack is seriously finding his feet very quickly in this industry, and is doing so very very well. Screaching soaring vocals are provided by Garf Freeman, Garf is very much a Robert Plant esque singer. Now whilst others try and make you grimace, Garf soars and makes you smile with eargasmic pleasure. Dave White is on Bass, watch how hard this guy bounces when playing, I have seen a few animated Bass players, and Dave is right up there with the rest of them. Lastly but by no means least we have Dave Smithy on Drums, Dave seriously reminds me of a young John Bonham, with what looks like a very wild style of hitting the skins, trying to put the sticks straight through them, but producing and very hard and perfectly rythmic percussive extravaganza.
