Katatonia UK tour 2014
A while back we announced that Stockholm based Katatonia would be heading over to our shores in May to play 2 nights as part of their “Unplugged and Reworked” tour.  Support has now been confirmed as Messenger.  For those unfamiliar with the name they are being hailed as the next big thing by Prog magazine and their debut album “Illusory Blues” is out now on CD and due out on 14th April on LP from Svart Records.  The band features ex-members from the likes of Raise The Dead, Rainydayfuckparade, and Ted Maul but despite the heavy background this is something very different.  Whilst Messenger have been likened to Ulver, Swans and Pink Floyd I can’t really see the connection myself, but their mix of prog, 70’s rock noodling and folk should satisfy fans of Porcupine Tree and Svart label mates Hexvessel.  Having just caught their album launch in London earlier this week I was suitably impressed as was the packed crowd and when singers Khaled and Barnaby hit their harmonies together it was pure bliss.  Check out some tracks from their new album below and if you’re heading to see Katatonia make sure you get there early.
