Those of you into your gig photography may well want to head to Whitechapel Road during March for the Punk as fuck photography exhibition.
Here’s the full press release:
Punk as fuck is a collection of photographs taken by legendary music snapper Steve Gullick during the grunge & lurch led punk rock resurgence of the early 1990s for rock weeklies Sounds & Melody Maker.
The exhibition of beautifully hand printed photography features images from the era’s chaotic pit’s & sedate street corner’s of those most likely to kick against the pricks between 1990 & 1993. Expect to see Gullick’s iconic photographs of everyone from Seattle’s Nirvana to Sunderland’s Leatherface in all their ‘in the flesh’ analogue glory.
Punk as fuck is on show at INDO, 133 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1DT between March 1st & 31st 2013, admission is free
Opening night will also tie in with Spiders Love Buzz, the regular night where Pete ‘Spider’ Spiby [Groop Dogdrill/Future eX Wife/Black Spiders] spins tracks from this very era!
Spiders Love Buzz playlist – Alt era 90’s and a bit beyond but not too far – Stooges, Janes Addiction, Hole, Sex Pistols, Nirvana, QOTSA, AC/DC, Smashing Pumpkins, Dinosaur Jnr, Breeders, Soundgarden, Babes in Toyland, ZZ Top, Jesus Lizard, GvsB, Melvins, Black Sabbath, Silverfish, Mudhoney, Beck, KISS, Afghan Whigs, Gallon Drunk, L7, Pavement, RFTC, Sebadoh, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the Pixies, Sun Carriage, Pearl Jam, the Young Gods.
