Yes it may say metalgigs at the top but we cover all forms of heavy music on the site so when Louise sent me through the news that Ninjafest was coming back for 2013 I had to get this up.  If you ever went to one of the older editions you’ll know how awesome these events are.  Here’s all the official info that’s been sent through:

NINJAFEST 2013… BACK FROM THE DEAD

Putting on its first edition in 2002 at The Dome in North London, Ninjafest became a European Hardcore staple over the next six years. From its humble beginnings as a two-day festival headlined by Heaven Shall Burn and Liar, the two girls behind Ninjafest – May and Rachel – took their idea of starting an annual hardcore festival in the UK and turned it into the unmissable yearly party it eventually became.

Playing host to bands such as Champion, No Redeeming Social Value, Terror, Internal Affairs, Comeback Kid, Bulldoze, 100 Demons, 108 and acting as a springboard for acts like TRC, Cold World, Stout, Deal With It, Down & Outs, Colin Of Arabia who played some of their early legendary sets at Ninjafest, the festival became THE hardcore event of the year. Joining forces with Louise Brown (Burial Records, Terrorizer Magazine) in 2005, May and Rach were on a relentless hunt for the best in hardcore until 2007 when they bowed out on a high with a festival headlined by Wisdom In Chains.

May continued to fight on with Running Riot Festival but in Fall 2012, after feeling the void where the festival once sat, traditionally on that last weekend in October, May, Rach and Louise once again joined forces to put on Ninjafest in 2013. They agreed and the rest is history… or will be!

On October 26-27 Ninjafest will return and the girls have vowed to make this a nostalgic party to remember, a family reunion and a chance to bring back one of the UK’s most loved indoor festivals. Bringing together some of the most-loved bands from previous Ninjafest bills and some of the best new bands who deserve to take their place in Ninjafest history, this will be a trip down memory lane for those who remember the festival the first time around and a celebration of modern hardcore and the bands keeping the spirit of Ninjafest alive.

This is not a festival to be sponsored by t-shirt brands, it’s not a fashion show, we won’t endorse your energy drink brand or range of hard-wearing rucksacks. But we will put on the most memorable gig of the year. Ninjafest is and always was for the hardcore family, whether you’re in the band, part of the Ninjafest team or there as a fan.  Passion. Energy. Integrity.
