Iron Maiden to finish European tour with London show

//Iron Maiden to finish European tour with London show

Iron Maiden England 88

We came, we saw, we banged our heads.  From an initial rain soaked arrival at Donington Park the weekend ended up a fairly sunny and fun 3 days of beer and music, but more importantly an AMAZING set from Iron Maiden. From the initial Spitfire flyover and Moonchild to an encore of Aces High, The Evil That Men Do, and Running Free it was an amazing 2 hours of music showing they STILL have it in spades, Phantom of the Opera was phenomenal.

A surprise announcement was made during their set that they would be returning to England at the end of their current Maiden ’88 European tour to play the O2 Arena on Saturday 3rd August 2013.  Better still is they are insuring the REAL fans will be able to get tickets instead of touts and secondary ticket selling website by using ticketless ticketing.  We at metalgigs are seriously happy about this.  We hope more bands take note and start using this system to stop the touts and reseller sites from making money from real music fans. Here’s all the spiel for the release:

Iron Maiden wish to ensure that fans get fair and proper access to tickets and do not pay over the actual ticket price by way of touts or the Secondary Ticketing Agencies and therefore this concert will be totally Ticketless (Paperless) Ticketing using the latest Technology.

Ticketless (Paperless) Ticketing means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event. Buying paperless helps ensure fans have secure and convenient access to event tickets at the intended original sale price. On the day of show, concert goers just need to bring the credit card they used for the ticket purchase and a government-issued photo ID to the concert. All members of the ticket purchaser’s party must be present at the same time to enter the venue. The venue’s ticket usher will swipe their credit card upon entry and present each person in their party with seat locator slips for quick access into the show.

Andy Copping – Senior Vice President of Music, Live Nation UK comments; “Maiden, their Management Phantom Music, the O2 and my team at Live Nation have really tried to ensure that fans can buy tickets at a fair and agreed price for the forthcoming UK show at the 02 by utilising Ticketless (Paperless) Ticketing technology throughout the whole venue. The aim is to ensure fair access for true fans and to eradicate ticket tout issues and inflated secondary market prices that can also lead to a reduction of the number of obtainable tickets at the on sale not being available to fans”

Maiden Manager Rod Smallwood adds; “We are all very pleased to round off this part of the tour back home to celebrate and it promises to be a great night. We used Ticketless (Paperless) Ticketing on our North American Tours in 2010 and 2012 and it worked extremely well and we received many positive comments back from our fans. With Ticketless (Paperless) Ticketing, only those who actually pay initially for the tickets will get into the show so scalping is generally avoided. We are also doing everything we can to avoid any drain of tickets going to the Secondary Ticketing sites which we feel make unfair profits from music fans and often lessen the number of tickets available to real fans, especially at the on sale.”

“Finally, we are of course once again arranging exclusive ticket pre-sales for our fan club members so they can be quick off the mark for great tickets. We will also continue to run the draw for fan club members so they can be ‘First To The Barrier’ prior to the show. We hope that these measures will help our fans as much as possible and ask that they keep checking for details on our website.”

Tickets will go on general sale on Friday June 28th from ticketmaster and other sellers.
